Orange Culture’s Resort’15 “Dovetail” Collection.
Nigerian talent Adebayo Oke-Lawal – designer behind the
brilliant brand Orange Culture – debuts an amazing 2015 resort collection,
titled “Dovetail” at the Pitti Uomo Trade Show, held in Florence, Italy this
week.
Inspired by the uneven and unleveled wooden staircases in
Lagos, Nigeria – from where the talent hails – 23 year old Oke-Lawal is
showcasing at the prestigious event after being invited by the organisation
and, after raising over £5000 via a crowd-funding campaign on Kickstarter (read
more about that, here), has created a collection of cool, modern wears that as
usual, we covet, desperately.
Speaking of the line’s inspiration, the brand says;
“The imperfection
of staircases in Lagos Nigeria doesn’t necessarily take away from its beauty as
the imperfect lines, joints and dimensions make each step an exciting
adventure, a step into an airy discovery.
These staircases
have a rustic appearance that reinterprets the natural structure of wood and
inspired the prints developed for the collection.”
Including bespoke prints, oversized ‘Agbada’ tunics, wrapper
skirts, loose pants and sheer shirts alongside a palette that helps push the
boundaries of traditional African menswear – and, further inspired by “the
complex and contemporary taste of the modern Afropolitan man” – Adebayo keeps
Orange Culture rocking and representing Nigeria in African and beyond.
