On the 8th of August 2014, Nigerian Designer brand
‘Needlepoint’ closed the show at the Africa Fashion Week London (AFWL), which
took place at the Olympia Kensington in London featuring over 50 designers from
different parts of Africa.
‘Needle Point’ showcased its Travel Collection also known as
the “Cruise Collection 2014”. The Cruise 2014 Collection is the latest to
emerge from Needlepoint. This collection is said to be one of Needle Points
most stylish with emphasis placed on the comfort and the versatility of each
piece. The collection fuses Linen and Ankara fabrics, accentuated with the
‘Needle Point’ signature embellishment to create a collection designed to be in
every woman’s closet.
Needlepoints collection was viewed by various editors,
stylists, press and photographers and enjoyed great reviews:
“Needle Point showcased a collection that made me smile. The collection was a combination of Ankara and glitter. If Zara would work with known designers in future time, I’d definitely recommend Needle Point.” – Abina (abinaonline.com)
“I loved almost every piece from their latest collection! From the design, to the quality, to the fabrics used. Just fabulous pieces! The audience certainly agreed, as Needle Point got the most applause, and even a standing ovation when the designer herself, graced the catwalk at the very end” – Cheap & Cheerful Shopper (cheapandcheerfulshopper.com)

About Needlepoint
‘Needle Point’ is a fashion brand created by Theresa Onwuka.
Theresa holds a BSc. Banking & Finance degree from the University of Port
Harcourt Nigeria, and an MBA from Brunel University London. Her mother, who had
herself, attended the London School of Fashion in the 1980s, inspired her foray
into the fashion industry.
Immersed from a young
age into a world suffused in creativity, shape and colors, Theresa was exposed
to the rudiments of detailing, design and embellishment. Articulating all these
influences into harmonious style and form therefore found passionate expression
in the ‘Needle Point’ brand.
The brand began in 2006 but re-launched in 2010. Since then,
‘Needle Point’ has unveiled several collections such as the Fusion Collection
(2012), Amina Collection (A/W 2013) and The Butterflies & Bees (S/S 2014).
Since its re-launch, the brand has enjoyed features in various fashion
publications. In 2013, Needlepoint was selected to show at ARISE Magazine
Fashion Week, Lagos Fashion & Design Week, and Ebony Life TV Runway Series
and now Africa Fashion Week London
The brand’s DNA has identified the ‘Needle Point’ woman as a
woman who is confident, loves her classic pieces and remains stylishly elegant.
These unique features are evident in every piece that Theresa Onwuka creates.
Great work. Keep it up.
