How To Wear the Monochromatic Trend
Simply put monochromatic is wearing varying shades of a single hue in an outfit- Millicent Arebun
Every style lover has heard the fashion term monochromatic bandied about in fashion circles, magazines, blogs et al. About 70 percent of style lovers understand the word to mean black and white stripes or black colored outfit and fashion staples only.
Truth is, the term monochromatic according to Wikipedia is all the colors (tints, tones, and shades) of a single hue. Monochromatic color schemes are derived from a single base hue and extended using its shades, tones, and tints. In fashion terms, monochromatic dressing means wearing separates of one color that have different textures and/or similar shades of that color for an overall tonal look.
Simply put monochromatic is wearing varying shades of a single hue in an outfit. So if you are wearing cyan top, over a navy skirt paired with indigo shoes and cornflower clutch purse, in fashion language, you are wearing a monochromatic outfit or rocking the monochromatic trend, since all the shades you are wearing is blue.
The monochromatic trend, which was birthed as an alternative to color blocking abuse, is all the rage this season. Better still, it is easy to style and wear, with fewer opportunities to commit a style faux-pauz.
Styling a monochromatic outfit is easy. All you need to do is
1. Pick out your shade of choice,
2. Divide your chosen staples into two batches, namely light and dark
3. Build your outfit with a “light goes with dark” concept on your mind and voila!
Style tip for men: Go for tonal and earthy color palette rather than pop or primary hues for an ultra-male look.
FYI: Forgive the bandage, I just donated blood for a good cause before I shot this look. for some weird reason, it would not stop bleeding meanwhile the work must go on! (Grin)
