Heineken Lagos Fashion and Design week 2017 | My Review & Highlights

The just concluded Heineken Lagos fashion and design week 2017, which held at the #HLFDW tents in Eko Atlantic City Lagos, was indeed a fashion salve to fashion lovers, who crave African trends and designs globally.

The masterclasses which I registered for and earnestly looked forward to must have been great but I was too distracted by the overwhelming heat to pay attention for long. I practically fled to one of the functional air conditioners near the security entrance and almost wept with relief when I felt the first cool draft. (The sun shone brightest during fashion week I believe)

Unfortunately, there wasn’t much opportunity to shop as only a handful of designers exhibited this year. The store was also placed un- strategically and I barely noticed the few.

The #CREATORSLOUNGE at the #HLFDW17 was a great initiation and I want to say a heartfelt ‘Thank You’ to THE ASSEMBLY x NEWTON & DAVID team.  Unfortunately, the only time I desperately needed to chill, recharge and create on Day 3 evening, none of the power sockets were working.

On Day 2, the hall was too hot for me to even consider chilling at the creator lounge, though most of my colleagues in the business was there. The nibbles and munchies made available for creators was a nice touch, as was the fab décor. It was indeed a creative space. Next time organisers of #HLFDW17 should please provide bigger stalls so we can truly enjoy this kind of initiative targeted at creators. (more space = more people enjoying the service provided)

The LDFW fashion shows, was a delight to the style senses as outstanding designers from all over Nigerian, Africa and the world over, showcased the very best of their creative innovations and designs to a captive international audience. Here are highlights of day one to four fashion shows for your viewing pleasure.
